Product Description

In Vegan with a Vengeance, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, cohost of the vegan cooking show, The Post Punk Kitchen, brings the do-it-yourself, community-driven ethos of punk rock into the kitchen. Her cooking philosophy embraces being kind to animals (all recipes are completely animal-product free) and your wallet--while being creative and having fun in the process. She emphasizes fresh ingredients over heavily processed corporate brand-name foods and says that, like good music, cooking is best when it's an innovative, experimental, and completely real experience. Her inspired recipes--covering all meals of the day and influenced by dishes from around the world--include:

Asparagus and Sun-dried Tomato Frittata--Fresh Mango Summer Rolls--Pumpkin Waffles--Tofu Dill Salad Sammiches--Green Goddess Garlic Pizza--Sweet Potato Crepes with Cilantro-Tamarind Sauce--Brooklyn Pad Thai--Banana Split Pudding Brownies--Fauxstess Cups--Gingerbread Apple Pie

PLUS: - Lists of essential tools and post punk pantry items - Suitable substitutes for those without all the fancy kitchen gear and ingredients - Inventive twists on classic dishes - Handy resources for vegans and punks - The story of The Post Punk Kitchen - Rockin' recipe intros and descriptions - Even fun facts and tips from Isa's cat, Fizzle!

5 out of 5 stars Just one suggestion   January 6, 2009

This is the best Vegan cookbook you can buy. I love the Tempeh sausage... so many wonderful recipes. I have one suggestion, however. I would like to see this cookbook in a "spiral" edition with laminated pages. I like cookbooks that lay flat so I can easily follow the recipes. Thank you so much.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but not great.   December 16, 2008
This is a good vegan cookbook, but I find when I am looking for a certain recipe, more likely than not, it is in Isa's other cookbook, Veganomican. If I had to choose between the two, it would be Veganomicon without a doubt.

5 out of 5 stars French Toast   December 12, 2008

Phenomenal. A gift before I went Vegan. Just made the "Fronch Toast" the other day and it was unbelievable. My girl teases me that I have a crush on the author.

5 out of 5 stars Fun book!   November 19, 2008

I bought all three of Isa's cookbooks as a package, and along with the recipes, you get plenty of stories, information and advice. It's a big help to someone like me that is new to vegan cooking and baking. I would definitely recommend getting Veganomicon along with it though, that cookbook is awesome!

5 out of 5 stars I love this cookbook.   October 14, 2008

Well worth it, even if you aren't a vegan (like me) but want to steer your family (and you) in a meatless direction....the directions are easy to follow, the ingredients are ez to find, and inexpensive. Love the little stories and comments that go along with all the recipes. Also bought the cupcake book....also, wonderful! Thanks.
