Product Description Praise for Your Portable Empire "In a sea of snake oil and get-rich-quick nonsense about fast money on the Internet from people who haven't really done it, O'Bryan's book is a ship of sanity to an island of commonsense e-commerce? This works." ?Mark Joyner, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Simple.ology "The Internet has leveled the playing field, making it possible for anybody to start a business. O'Bryan, however, has given us the easy-to-follow instruction manual on how to first discover your niche and then build it into a big enterprise that can run itself from almost anywhere-all from his successful and proven formulas. A great book for anybody serious about a better quality of life." ?Joseph Sugarman, Chairman, BluBlocker Sunglass Corporation "This amazing book can free all working people to make money doing what they truly love!" ?Dr. Joe Vitale, author of The Attractor Factor and Zero Limits "I know O'Bryan as a friend and colleague. He has painstakingly put together a book, with no frills or fanfare, that straight-up shares his hard-won wisdom. May I urge you to get it and read it? Not only will you enjoy it-but once you act on what you learn, you can profit mightily as well. Why? Because what's in this book lets you stop making the victim's compromise on a daily basis-and start doing the victory dance, whenever you want!" ?David Garfinkel, author of Advertising Headlines That Make You Rich "O'Bryan lives the portable empire, running his business from a laptop with a cigar and a glass of fine wine. There is no one better to be your guide as you create your own, because he's laid out every step for you in his inspiring and easy-to-read book. There is no need to be chained to a desk or locked in a cubicle, and your business can take you far beyond your kitchen table with the blueprint O'Bryan shares from his own successful journey." ?Craig Perrine, www.maverickmarketer.com "Freedom-O'Bryan's new book makes you understand exactly how to obtain it and create the lifestyle of your dreams. Anyone who can go from being a dead-broke musician living in a mobile home to generating six figures in a single month is worth reading." ?Bill Hibbler, coauthor of Meet and Grow Rich

From the internet sewer, a turd is offered up December 22, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book clearly demonstrates why much of the Internet has devolved into a sewer of shills and online marketing designed to separate fools from their money in every way possible. The author's syrupy drivel and pseudo-scientific babblings attempt to lend legitimacy to all of this, but it is really nothing more that yet another scheme to suck in the naive and give some false hope to the impressionable for the profit of the author. Stay well clear of this book if you aspire to be more than yet another "used car salesman" on the Internet.
Pat O'Bryan Hypnotized Stage Hypnotist Simone, King of Sway! October 18, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
It takes a concerted effort to write a review on a book. I consume about $50,000 in educational works relating to self-actualization and human behavior each year. I am most impressed by the internet marketing mavericks like Pat O'Bryan, Joe Vitale, Bill Hibbler, Craig Perrine, Mark Joyner, Cindy Cashman, Nerissa Oden, anyone in the infamous Wimberly Mafia, the mastermind of multi-million dollar internet marketing kings and queens in the Hill Country between Austin and San Antonio. Why am I impressed? It used to be their sheer wealth and determination--until I sat at the table in a modest restaurant where they all meet with their adopted leader, Dr. Joe Vitale, star of The Secret, author of Buying Trances and The Attractor Factor (and about 30 other Best Sellers). Now days, when the group meets, the vehicles parked outside in the parking lot make the occasional passerby gawk in confusion. Maybe a million dollars of cars between just a few people. Blah, Blah, Blah. But forget about their money. I have personally sat at that table with Joe Vitale and Bill Hibbler and I can tell you that this small group of people, which Pat O'Bryan pals with in country are warm and loving and kind and extremly generous to a fault. As such, they have A T T R A C T E D millions and millions of dollars, of fans, of students, and curious people from all over the world. They deserve it! I have not personally met Pat O'Bryan yet, but when I personally delivered the world's largest hypnosis collection to Dr. Joe Vitale at his estate in Wimberly, there stood a $4,000.00 blues guitar in the doorway. Joe spun the story of how Pat O'Bryan had made a gift of the guitar to Joe to thank him for teaching him how to not only escape poverty, but how to live beyond even his own imagination. It almost made me cry how down to earth and genuine these guys were. Joe's sweetheart, Nerissa Oden, The Video Queen, was there to meet me, too, and gosh, I was so impressed with her, just a wonderful spirit. I gave her the Graphic Art Design tools I had used in Film School and she was very gracious about accepting them. Now, back to Pat O'Bryan's Your Portable Empire: How to Make Money Anywhere While Doing What You Love. Only a percentage or two out of a hundred lemmings, um, people, currently grasp the concepts Pat lives by, including that, going to a job and trading your life for dollars is the definition of insanity. In the work-ethic of Texas, no wonder these rich guys with the cigars and Jalepeno Martini's were dubbed Wimberly Mafia, they had to be boxed and labled and put aside by people without the core understanding that it really is possible to attract wealth and fame without going to a job, without giving away your life for mediocre returns and unhappiness. They didn't steal and rob and hurt people for their wealth, they all work very hard to bring V A L U E to their followers and friends, clients and members. The difference between Pat O'Bryan and Friends in central Texas and the people who work as slaves to a job, is that they discovered and acted upon the dreams mandated in their head, dreams that directed them towards the light and not the darkness to places dreamt of by millions as unattainable. Pay O'Bryan learned from the best, Joe Vitale, that those place ARE attainable, quite easily. Then Joe showed pat how to work ONCE and get paid forever by creating products one or two or three at a time that could be easily distributed digitally, hands-off, via internet marketing. Who doesn't want to be paid every day forever for work you do just once? Ok, well, go get a job and whine about all your misfortune. Listen, people, and especially any negative Amazon Reviewers, who post poor-me-I'm-a-victim-of-deceptive-marketing-on-the-internet-reviews....get over yourself! Your perception of reality is limited. Reality is plastic, moveable, shakeable. We are hypnotists, yes, but all we do is change you from a negative trance direction to our positive trance. Admittedly, the internet is full of con-men. But in 2008, we have discovered through Pat and Joe, Bill, Nerissa, Craig, Mark, Cindy and a few others that LOVE in the Marketplace wins loving rewards. We don't have to lie or steal to win and succeed and even rule. We just make good media to teach people what we've done, and people shower us with gifts. The greatest gifts of all are the friends along the way. In about six weeks, at the beginning of December, I am relocating to the Hill Country of Texas to see what the loving universe has in store. I don't know, but I do know this. I will occassionally see very expensive cars and dudes and dudettes enjoying life without limits, while everyone else merely dreams, we act on our dreams. Please join us. Thank you, Pat, for putting your heart and soul into this book. I will recommend it to everyone on my list and in many of my own products. Can't wait to hear you play me a song! Warmly, Stage Hypnotist Simone, King of Sway!
Usable information, great introduction and reference October 12, 2008 Your Portable Empire by Pat O'Bryan has opened up a whole new world and added a new income stream to my business. I attended a weekend seminar put on by Pat he is the real deal. He isn't just writing about internet marketing,he has 'been there, done that, still there and still doing' -- best of all, he is willing to share how to do it.
Not only have I read, implemented and followed his advice in building the internet marketing leg of my art licensing business, but by giving this book to several friends, I have opened them up to the real possibility of changing their lives with this approach. Every one of them has thanked me.
Pat's advice is usable -- by reading this book you can get started. He shows you how. He shows you where. He gives links to many free resources. The book covers everything from choosing a topic that you are passionate about to building a list to creating the products.
He also talks about Mind-Set and I believe this is a power piece of the book. If you aren't ready to to believe in yourself and take the necessary steps to succeed, then you won't. No book will help you. I feel this book helps in the two key areas of success: what to do and how to keep your head in the game.
If you are truly ready to make internet marketing and information products part of your life, you can't go wrong with "Your Portable Empire".

Pleasantly Surprised...Better Than Expected! August 31, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
When I read the forward by Joe Vitale I was immediately put off by the book. I am NOT a Vitale fan and don't like his marketing tactics at all.
When I read the first line of the book to my husband -- "This is the most dangerous book you'll ever read..." (or something to that affect) -- he told me that if it were him he'd throw the book in the trash instantly. He's not a big fan of bullsh**, clearly.
As I began reading the book I almost wanted to throw it in the trash. Especially when I read the section on "What is an e-book?" If someone doesn't know that then they don't deserve any opportunity to make money online.
I'll admit: There's no specific step-by-step to use in this book and it is very incomplete. Pat (the author) doesn't talk about his specific successful online campaigns through Google Adwords. He doesn't talk about what kind of info products he sells (although I wouldn't either). He misleads people into believing that you could make tons of money selling ebooks on topics like "how to sleep better" which is NOT a topic that would sell well at all.
My theory: He sells "money making" info products online and doesn't want anyone else to crowd how he makes his money online.
Why did I give this book 5 stars?
Two reasons:
1) He does a good job covering successful copywriting which will make or break your success with online (or any) marketing. Copywriting is the key.
2) In the lateral half of the book he discusses "mindset" in a way I have never read before. I've read hundreds of self-help titles and this book is unique in providing a different view of changing your mindset which made this book well worth it.
Buy this book if you want to be successful financially. No, it won't give you any instruction other than to create your own info products and sell them via Google Adwords. However, it will open your mind to the possibilities and help you change your mindset for success. That, alone, is worth reading this book.
Just do what Pat says July 21, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a habit of over complicating things. Pat breaks it down to the most basic steps. It's still a lot of work, but if you just do what Pat says and stick with it. You'll end up with a successful product or two. Just remember not every product is successful, so stay with it.
