Compendium of techniques for persuasion and success December 12, 2008 This book is a useful primer for learning well-established persuasion techniques. Although author Kurt Mortensen makes few new points, he does a good job of compiling and synthesizing the current wisdom. Nothing here will challenge readers who are already familiar with the art, but newbies will find Mortensen's book a useful introduction, with references to classic motivational writers such as Napoleon Hill, time-management gurus such as Stephen Covey and classic thinkers such as Ben Franklin and Mohandas Gandhi. His enthusiasm helps, as do his checklists and examples. getAbstract recommends his book to aspiring salespeople and negotiators, and to anyone else who wants to improve his or her persuasion skills but doesn't know where to start.
Love the book - dont like the retailer October 1, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Love the book - share somewhat the same thoughts as the other reviewers on contents.
However - I have to strongly recommend that you stay FAR AWAY from the add on's (signing up for extra materials...). I felt like being spammed!

Fantastic Book August 2, 2008 Kurt Mortensen's Persuasion IQ book is in one word awesome. I really enjoyed learning the different skills and techniques not only in regards to persuasion/influence, but also in improving your life. Highly recommend it! Great job. Oscar
Highly Recommended July 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent book on the topic of persuasion without a slant toward any one occupation or profession. The principles and illustrations can apply to persuading a teenage son to go to college, to making a presentation to a senior executive, or to developing great website copy.
The author refers to several primary research studies done by his organization. In fact, these are the heart of the book and what I found most intriguing and worth scrutiny for any sales professional, speaker, author, or marketing professional.
Highly recommended.
