Product Description
You have two choices: Be attacked by a wolverine or go on a date If you're smart, you chose wolverine. If not?well, wait, are you sure you don't want the wolverine? Happily ever after isn't so easy anymore. It's all speed dating, matchmaking terror, and visits to your therapist. Whether it's the mortification, frustration, or just plain exhaustion that's got you ready to give up on love, this book is here to help. After all, there are only two ways out of the dating scene. One involves giving up all your possessions and taking a vow of chastity. The other involves finding a permanent (or semi-permanent, anyway) partner. This book will help you get through the latter. From the bar scenes and the first sexual encounter to deciding whether to move in together, Dating Makes You Want to Die walks you through every stage of the dating process?and, like a Belarusian arms dealer, provides the heavy artillery you'll need to destroy the potential problems lurking in each one. Each chapter discusses the problems that can arise when dating, offers a remedy, and includes hilarious sidebars and quizzes to further help you prepare for the jungle out there. Some sanity-keeping tips include: How to make a first impression that is more "good" than "totally crazy." How to not panic the moment you realize you're actually in an honest-to-God relationship. Helpful, foolproof breakup lines for total damage control. Intelligent, snarky, and entertaining, Dating Makes You Want to Die may make you actually want to live through a relationship.

So funny but so true. December 1, 2008 Dating is, at best, meeting someone new and, at worst, facing rejection. However, this book is about dating and it something you have to do--right? Even the most cynical of us can get a laugh out of this book and, just maybe, it might open our eyes too. It's a really good read. I'd suggest it, along with Chicks: A User's Guide to Dating, Love and Sex.
Funny... because it's true September 4, 2008 Honestly, the title says it all. Dating is, obviously, the opposite of fun but the book reminds you that it can be very, very funny, especially when viewed through the bluntly honest eyes of the book's authors. This is a great read for anyone looking for witty commentary or sage advice on navigating the ins and outs of modern dating... and at the very least it'll make you giggle.
Like it or not, this book is about all of us... September 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dating is, by nature, kind of horrible. The authors recognize that and have written accordingly, producing a one of a kind book on dating that everyone can identify with.
At turns hilarious, insightful and blunt, "Dating Makes You Want to Die" is a book that people in any stage of a relationship should read. Based more in common sense and hard-won wisdom than boring research, it reads like one of the most interesting 3am bar conversations about dating you've ever had. Even if you're past the dating stage of life, are happily committed or even married, this book will become therapy for your traumatized soul. A married man myself, I couldn't help but crack up after recognizing the former me in chapter after chapter.
Robinson and Holloway have really tapped into the zeitgeist with this one. It's the perfect dating book for the post-dating world, and I guarantee you won't find a more fun recent non-fiction book out there. It may not help you snag the perfect life mate, but at least you'll have someone to commiserate with.
